Car Tune Ups

Top 4 Reasons to Get an Annual Tune Up

You’ve probably heard the saying, “Preventative medicine is the best medicine.” At Auto Speciality of Lafayette, Inc., our mechanics know this saying to ring true. Maintaining good health—whether you’re talking about your personal health or the health of your vehicle—is always the best choice. One of the best ways you can do just that with your car is to get an annual tune-up, and here’s why.

1. Keep the engine in good condition.

As part of a car tune up, our mechanics check the engine thoroughly and make sure it’s functioning properly. We also give it a thorough cleaning so that it continues to run as smoothly as possible in the year ahead.

2. Get a major systems check.

Our car diagnostic system allows us to check the overall condition of your vehicle in only a few minutes. Our system is completely wireless, and you can get a broad picture of how your car is doing.

3. Replace small parts.

Paying attention to the small things usually adds up to avoiding major issues down the road. An annual tune-up typically includes replacing the following:

  • Spark plugs
  • Air filters
  • Fuel filters
  • Engine fluids (including coolant, windshield wiper fluid, and antifreeze)
  • Oil change

4. Delay major repairs.

Regular car maintenance by a professional can help ward off major repairs or engine failure. Whether your vehicle is new or old, you want to keep it in the best condition possible so that it will run longer. To do just that, we recommend that you pay a small price now for a tune-up and ward off the high-dollar repairs as long as possible.

At Auto Specialty, we recommend that all our customers get an annual tune-up at the bare minimum. You’ll want to time your tune-up to coincide with your regular oil change since that’s included as part of the service. However, note that if your engine light is on or if you are having other issues with your vehicle, it’s better to schedule an appointment sooner rather than later.
